According to a new ranking – London, New York and Paris have been named the world’s most sustainable and livable cities. The other cities in the top 10 areTokyo, Berlin, Washington DC, Copenhagen, Oslo, Singapore and San Francisco.
The ranking comes from the IESE Cities in Motion index which evaluates at 183 cities in 92 countries. The nine areas studied are –
- human capital
- social cohesion
- economy
- governance
- environment
- mobility and transportation
- urban planning
- international profile
- technology
This article explains that over years and years these indexes have been calculated and European cities consistently perform well. Part of this has to do with their focus on sustainable design.
